On receipt of an electronically signed copy of this form along with payment we (Chi City Legal LLC) will commence representation through the course of your eviction matter. We agree to handle an uncontested eviction or enter into a payment plan for the initial fee selected on the previous page. However, if the matter becomes contested, such as the tenant hires and attorney or files a jury demand, then the previously defined additional attorney's fees will apply.
IMPORTANT: The scope of the engagement includes any and all bench trial court room activity, and if necessary, jury trial courtroom pretrial activity. This will not cover an actual jury trial as the chances in proceeding to a jury trial are extremely low.
The previously selected fees and costs (if entered correctly) will cover the initial amounts due to initiate representation. As previously noted, additional attorney's fees may be required to prosecute this matter if the matter becomes contested. Finally, if the defendant defaults on a payment plan after 30 days after a final court order, then an additional fee of $50 is required to reinstate the case and bring it before the court.
Nonetheless, additional costs to the Clerk of Court, Sheriff's office, or other entities may be required to continue the case.
You will be expected to promptly pay your own costs in this matter, or promptly reimburse your attorney for any costs taken on in the matter. Should any costs become necessary we would bring those to your attention at that time, and consult with you prior to taking on any costs. Such costs may include, but are not limited to: alias summons ($6/defendant), filing fees ($268/matter), certification fees ($9/document), special process server ($75), and sheriff’s service ($60/defendant), electronic filing fees ($0.25 per filing), and sheriff’s eviction ($60.50).
If additional fees and costs are not promptly paid, it may cause delays in your case. Additionally, if the matter becomes contested and the additional attorney's fees are not paid within 48 hours of our sending an invoice or otherwise bringing them to your attention, then will will promptly withdraw from your case.
By electronically signing this agreement you agree to cooperate with our firm as your attorneys. This includes providing any necessary documentation, being available to respond to inquiries from your attorneys, and making yourself available should you need to go into court on this matter. As your attorneys we will keep you readily aware of the situation on our end, and be responsive to questions you have in respect to this matter. However, we will not take actions outside the scope of this agreement.
As your attorneys we cannot guarantee any success as to any individual matter, but we will pursue it to the fullest of our abilities. Additionally, while we can advise you regarding any settlement proposals offered by the adverse party, the final decision as to accepting any settlement is left upon you as an individual.
