THIS IS A PROPOSAL, NOT AN OFFICIAL ATTORNEY-CLIENT ENGAGEMENT, UNTIL IT IS ACCEPTED BY CHI CITY LEGAL
SCOPE OF REPRESENTATION AND FEE AGREEMENT
Once you receive a copy of this document which is signed by an authorized representative of Chi City Legal, LLC and tender payment, we will commence representation and this agreement will come into effect.
A single eviction will be billed according to the fee schedule below with each amount treated as an EARNED FEE, but will NOT cover costs associated with prosecuting your matter. This engagement is limited limited in scope and does not include jury trials. The Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct allow an attorney to limit the scope of services so long as it is reasonable under the circumstances and the client gives informed consent. A phone consultation will occur or has occurred in which the attorney explained the extremely low likelihood of a jury trial in eviction matters and the reasonableness of limiting the scope.
All Case Activity with the Exception of Below
– Due Immediately
Jury Demand or Opposing Attorney Appearance (only applies if a jury demand or opposing attorney appearance is filed)
Motion to Reinstate (only applies if the tenant defaults on a court ordered payment plan)
PLEASE NOTE FOR EXISTING EVICTIONS: If there is a deficiency which causes the complaint to be amended, an additional fee of $50.00 will be assessed after consultation with the client. If there is such a severe deficiency which causes the court case to be dismissed and refiled, an additional fee of $100.00 will be assessed after consultation with the client.
These amounts do not include any costs or expenses related to this case. You will be expected to pay your own costs in this matter, or reimburse your attorney for any costs taken on in the matter. Should any costs become necessary we would bring those to your attention at that time, and consult with you prior to taking on any costs. Such costs include, but are not limited to: alias summons ($6/defendant), filing fees ($268/matter), certification fees ($9/document), special process server ($75), and sheriff’s service ($60/defendant), and sheriff’s eviction ($60.50). The credit card processor used by Chi City Legal may apply a surcharge for credit card transactions which are borne by the Client.

IN THE EVENT CHI CITY LEGAL ACCEPTS THIS PROPOSAL: By signing this agreement you agree to cooperate with our firm as your attorneys. This includes providing any necessary documentation, being available to respond to inquiries from your attorneys, and making yourself available should you need to go into court on this matter. As your attorneys we will keep you readily aware of the situation on our end, and be responsive to questions you have in respect to this matter. However, we will not take actions outside the scope of this agreement.
As your attorneys we cannot guarantee any success as to any individual matter, but we will pursue it to the fullest of our abilities. Additionally, while we can advise you regarding any settlement proposals offered by the adverse party, the final decision as to accepting any settlement is left upon you as an individual.
